Unemployment and under-employment data through September 2011 for Los Angeles County, California and the nation, drawn from the Current Population Survey (sources: BLS Basic Monthly CPS, US Census) and compiled by the Economic Roundtable. Data includes three-month-rolling averages; notes on our methodology are included in the data file.
The Economic Roundtable conducted research in support First 5 Los Angeles’ Cross Cutting Strategies Investment. This planning work became a foundation for First 5 LA’s Cross-Cutting Approaches, which has four goals: Improved social connections within and across families, community members and organizations. Improved integrated child and family services that are accessible and culturally appropriate.
The Economic Roundtable produced county and sub-county information on Child and Family Health for First 5 Los Angeles, supporting their internal planning for what became the Best Start investment. The maps, slides and tables focus on the health and socioeconomic status of Los Angeles County’s children from birth through age three, as well as that of pregnant women (hence “P-3”).
Family Needs Survey Survey questionnaire responses from 8,536 working welfare parents and other poor families in Los Angeles County. The full report, Running Out of Time: Voices of Parents Struggling to Move from Welfare to Work, can be downloaded for free from our web site.
